As someone who is fascinated by and plans to write a thesis on how collate and design a platform that would make data accessible for a particular sector in my country, this was definitely a great crash course.
Do you have anything around actually collecting and collating data?
Thanks so much, Tope! Your thesis idea sounds super impactful. I donโt have a full deep dive on collecting and collating data (yet!), but I do have a few quick thoughts. First, it really helps to start with clear goals - what kind of data do you need and what will it be used for? Then look for existing sources you can build from - public datasets, APIs, sometimes even downloadable reports. And be ready for messy data - cleaning and structuring it is half the job. ๐ Also, keeping track of where each piece of data comes from (metadata!) can be a lifesaver later. Would love to hear more about the sector youโre focusing on!
Jakub thanks for putting this together. It's a little too technical. But I summoned chatGPT to help me understand some parts of it. I am building a repository of AI startups, and as it has grown, I have encountered issues with just using WordPress as my CMS. The many-to-many relationships to manage via foreign keys is tricky. I guess I need a new CMS for that. Do you have any recommendations on a CMS?
Hi Chintan. Thanks for sharing this feedback. ๐ I would appreciate if you could guide me to make it less technical and easier to understand next time. In the meantime, I would like to understand where this complexity you are struggling with comes from? I can see that it must have increased significantly, but what are the issues you are having?
I guess the framework you can use is probably using analogies or asking ChatGPT to help you create visuals for a non-tech person on the concepts you explain. I guess that could make it easier for folks :) I just DMed the issue with WordPress. It's just clunky at handling inter relationships if we involve multiple taxonomies and have each of them as a custom post type etc.
